Whitstable's Historic Oxford Street School

This is one of Simply Whitstable's most popular feature items... because most of our older male readers attended the town's Oxford Street school.

We trace the history of the establishment from 1877 when it was Whitstable's first state school. At that stage, it was partitoned into 3 sections (boys, girls and infants).... but it later became the town's most prominent "all boys school" before converting to co-ed in the second half of the twentieth century.

With the help of our readers, we share a whole host of old photographs and discuss so many memories. If you can add to the story and the nostalgia, please let us know.
