Simply Whitstable - Natives Abroad
Perth, W. Australia with Bob & June Hill

Bob and June lived along the coast in Herne Bay but emigrated to Australia..... twice!

The first relocation occurred in 1969 when they landed in Adelaide ( South Australia), moved on to Melbourne (Victoria).... and then returned to Herne Bay. The second took place in 1981. This time, they settled on the other side of Oz - in the vibrant city of Perth on the beautiful west coast....

City of Perth, Western Australia

If you're a geography student.... or perhaps a cricket follower, you'll know that the city is set at the mouth of the Swan River. I mention "cricket follower" as Perth is a major Test Match venue.... with matches being played at the WACA (Western Australia Cricket Association) not far from the Swan.

The WACA provides some of fastest and bounciest wickets in world cricket - something that helped Western Australia to produce one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time (Dennis Lillee).

As a cricket enthusiast, you'll also know about the Freemantle Doctor - a steady breeze that keeps things a bit cooler than they might be. Mind you, its not so hot for a bowler bowling into it.

The following shot shows The Narrows Bridge spanning the Swan River in South Perth.

Bob and June set up home close to another waterway - The Canning River....

Reflections in the Canning River

It is a beautiful coastal city but there is also the chance to explore inland. The photos below were takenduring a campervan tour a few years ago...

Wildflowers are attractive anywhere in the world... but there is a feeling of solitude and vastness in the wide open spaces of Western Australia.

Bob and June are now visitors to Simply Whitstable. However, they don't necessarily need to check on our local sunset photos as they have some pretty spectacular scenes of their own. Our final photo is this wonderful sunrise captured from their garden.....

Bob and June have three sons. Two live in Perth and are therefore able to share those sunrises. The other has moved back across Australia to Melbourne.... and another famous cricket ground - the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground).

In their mail enclosing the photos, Bob and June mentioned their motto.... "Laugh More, Live Longer!"... and that is a philosophy that fits in very well with Simply Whitstable..... and Australia.

Our thanks to Bob, June and family for sharing a few snippets of their "home from home".
